Accepting Bitcoin Payments on Your Website

2 min read

As a web hosting company, we’re always looking to add new payment methods to our website in order to allow us to capture a bigger portion of the market. Some people use PayPal, some don’t. Some like to pay by credit card, while some are scared to put their card details anywhere online. As part of our quest to offer accessible means of payment to everyone, we decided to offer Bitcoin as a payment option for our web hosting services, and one way to do it is by using Blockonomics Bitcoin Payments – in our case, as a payment module for our billing system – WHMCS.

Before trying Blockonomics, we played around with other options, such as Bitpay. However, we didn’t like that they aggregated all incoming payments, and paid out to us later in the week. We wanted immediate access to our Bitcoin, which is exactly what Blockonomics Bitcoin Payments provide. The process is quite simple:

  • You integrate their solution on your website
  • Someone pays you by Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash
  • Any payments received are sent directly to your BTC wallet

At present, Blockonomics have plugins for WHMCS, WordPress, Prestashop, Easy Digital Downloads, Magento, OpenCart, Joomla and Telegram Shop Bot. On top of that, they also provide an API, which you can use if there are no pre-made plugins for the platform you’re using. You can also generate a direct payment link to share with friends, or place a donation button on your website.

Fees are set at just 1%, and are NOT taken from the payments you receive. And they certainly won’t break the bank! To cover the fees, you will need to have a balance with Blockonomics. With fees so low, it would cost you just $1 to receive $100 in payments, which is much better than any other option available on the market today. Hooked yet? Your first 10 transactions are free!

SharkServers has used Blockonomics for a while now, and we are very happy with what it does. I can’t comment on implementing it for any other platform than WHMCS (as that’s the only one we use), but setting it up was a breeze. From start to finish it takes just under 10 minutes to set up, and doesn’t require any technical knowledge.

We are absolutely stoked on this product, and would recommend to everyone! 10/10! Give them a try. They’re awesome!
