Force DirectAdmin Zone Transfer

1 min read

This will be a short and simple tutorial to explain one thing, and one thing only – how to force DirectAdmin Zone Transfer. Zone transfer is a feature you use to synchronize your DNS records between multiple DNS servers. In this case, we’re using DirectAdmin, so if you’re using another control panel, such as cPanel or VestaCP, this tutorial will not apply to you. Let’s start, shall we?

Provided that you’ve already got the DirectAdmin Multi Server setup, this is what you need to do:

  1. Log in, via SSH, to the DirectAdmin server you want to transfer the DNS zones from
  2. Execute this command: echo “action=rewrite&value=named” >> /usr/local/directadmin/data/task.queue
  3. Wait for about a minute or two, and the transferred zones will appear on the other servers you’ve configured on the Multi Server page.

Pretty simple, right? I bet you expected more. Sorry to disappoint.
